Our highly valued Queensland Government client is seeking an experienced AO7 Human Resources (HR) Contractor for an immediate start to support a high-priority Workforce Strategy initiative. Our client is looking for a high-calibre HR professional who can step in seamlessly to maintain momentum and ensure critical milestones remain on track during this period.
The Opportunity
This short-term assignment offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a strategic workforce initiative within a complex public sector environment and a values-driven organisation. You will play a pivotal role in progressing key pieces of work that underpin the organisation’s long-term service delivery goals.
We are seeking an HR expert, ideally with strong public sector experience, who can hit the ground running, navigate established governance frameworks, and deliver high-quality outcomes under tight timeframes.
Key Deliverables
Over the 8-week contract, you will be responsible for progressing the following core priorities:
- Health & Safety Committee
- Develop a formal proposal
- Facilitate the process to appoint Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs)
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislative requirements
- Critical Incident Procedure
- Design and document a comprehensive, end-to-end framework for managing workplace critical incidents
- Recruitment Audit
- Conduct a detailed audit of current temporary recruitment processes
- Deliver a formal, board-ready report with practical recommendations to improve efficiency and market competitiveness
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Extensive HR expertise, including experience in strategic workforce planning
- A strong public sector background (highly regarded)
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality, board-ready reports and formal procedures within tight deadlines
- Proven stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, particularly in sensitive or regulated environments
- The confidence and professionalism to operate autonomously at an AO7 level

Remuneration, Hours and Hybrid Work Arrangements
- Remuneration is in the range of $87.00 - $93.50 per hour plus super, dependent on experience.
- Standard 36.25 hours per week (excluding unpaid meal breaks).
- Typical working hours between 8:30am and 5:00pm, but some flexibility available if required.
- Client offers a hybrid model with three days in the office and two days working from home.
